ABSTRACT Vegetable cultivation requires high water use and weed control. Soil cover using recycled paper, can be an alternative to polyethylene film reduce incidence, soil temperature increase efficiency beyond reduces costs environmental pollutions. The objective of this study was evaluate the biodegradable mulch in management (WUE) lettuce crop. treatments were composed brown paper (RP), black (PF) without with removal (WR) (WW). RP PF efficient control weeds. 8.2 2.1ºC lower than WR, respectively. yield 14.5 28.3% higher PF, volume applied 26.5% lower, WUE 55.6% compared WR. controlled weeds, reduced consumption increased
